New Defy collection of watches by Zenith has been inspired by racing cars. The powerful timepieces are characterized by a racy profile and athletic build. The Defy watches are based on a bold combination of innovative materials, with the famous Zenithium on the list. Zenithium is the name of an exclusive alloy applied to strengthen the regulating components. Using the alloy, the brand’s watchmakers are able to construct exceptional movements and cases. The collection presents four new models of watches. Here are short descriptions of each of them.
Zenith Defy Classic Open
The Defy Classic Open watch houses an El Primero calibre, the SC 4021, beating at the rate of 36,000 vph. The window in the dial allows to admire the oscillating movement.
The timepiece reveals meticulous attention to every detail, including the power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock, the applied indexes and the open-work hands with luminous tips for perfect visibility under reduced light conditions.
The case of the Defy Classic Open is crafted in stainless steel or in combination of steel and brushed rose gold and measures 46.5 mm or 43 mm in diameter. The timepiece reveals either a black or silver dial. It is secured to the wrist on a rubber or stamped crocodile leather strap.
Zenith Defy Classic Tourbillon Zero-G
The Defy Tourbillon Zero-G (zero gravity) watch features a truly innovative character. The groundbreaking system, incorporating a gyroscope cage tourbillon and constant horizontal escapement, keeps the mechanism away from the gravity effects, thus providing much improved accuracy.
The construction of the Defy Classic is reminiscent of the terrestrial globe. A figure of 8 is featured around the hours and minutes display positioned at 11 o’clock and around the tourbillon opening at 5 o’clock. It symbolizes infinity and good luck.
The multi-layered dial is protected by 4 anti-reflective sapphire glass plates. The case of the timepiece is crafted in rose gold and is presented on a brown alligator leather strap.
Zenith Defy Xtreme Open
The Defy Xtreme Open watch is powered by the El Primero 4021 SX. The mechanism, beating at 36,000 vph, is protected by a special blade with the 3-branched second hand revolving on it.
The watch’s face boasts a power reserve display split into sectors. The hands of the watch are provided with Superluminova inserts for perfect visibility under the reduced light conditions.
The case of the Xtreme Open is crafted in black titanium or combination of black titanium and rose gold. The case construction boasts 1,000-meter water resistance. The timepiece incorporates a slightly raised helium valve used for decompression under extreme conditions. The push-buttons catch attention due to carbon fiber inserts.
The multi-layered dial smartly combines honeycomb aluminum, shock-resistant Hesalite and carbon fiber. The bold Defy Xtreme watches embrace the wrist with a rubber strap or a bracelet crafted from brushed stainless steel or rose gold and composite materials, along with Kevlar lateral inserts.
Zenith Defy Xtreme Tourbillon Zero-G
The Defy Tourbillon Zero-G (zero gravity) is a revolutionary addition to the sphere of watchmaking innovations. The revolutionary system includes a gyroscope cage tourbillon and constant horizontal escapement. It allows the mechanism to avoid the gravity effects and provide much enhanced accuracy.
